Monday Shuffle

Here we go again:

Junko Partner - Anders Osborne. This NOLA (by way of Sweden) guitar player & singer/songwriter is one of the criminally under-rated musicians of our day. I aint bullshitin ya. His live shows are absolute magic... and instead of a bass player, he employs a tuba - that's flippin sweet. It's in dire need of an update, but you can check www.andersosborne.com for more info.

Faithful - Pearl Jam, 5/26/00. Is Eddie a vegan? I really dont know. Dont care, but am curious. Anyway, good song.

My Favorite Things - Holy Moses & The Holy Rollers, 4/2/04. Discovered this band on the Archive. As for the song, they do it just fine. MFT has to be the one song that when done right is fabtastic, but when done wrong sounds like Andy Williams wearing platform shoes on the Dinah Shore show.

My Little Humidor - Galactic. If there was justice in the world, THIS BAND would play halftime of the Super Bowl (or at least do that stupid ass NFL Kick-Off special shit at the start of the year). Too bad Americans dont have the attention span to dig bands that make music sans vocals.

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - Coldplay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Chris Martin and the boys got skillz, and he can write a great song. Deal with it. Plus, he's jowl deep in Gwen Paltrow and you arent.

Under The Weather - Dubconscious. More from Georgia's favorite white boy reggae/dub band. Rightous stuff it is. "Did we get caught under the weather or did we get bought and sold down the river"? Id say a little of both.

Dont Touch My Bikini - Halo Benders. Eh, some deep voiced new wavish stuff with a rap tip. Eh, gotta love impulse buys on I-Tunes. I think it's about a strip club, I know it's got musicial immitations of somebody getting a stiffy. "Take a ca-ca, take a postcard, you're so heavy, you've my honey, getting ready, easter bunny, rocking steady, making money, toasting Vegans, thats not funny".

Fantastic Voyage - Lakeside. Great song. Thanks to my brother who thought he was black, or wished to be black, before it was popular (even though he's whiter than Frasier Crane). This shit is smooooooooooooooooth as Johnnie Blue Label.

High Time - Grateful Dead, 9/30/80. Always loved this song. Typical lushiousness that was the majority of the Jerry ballads... Bobby's harmony vocals is what puts it over the top. It was also one of the ones that seemed to get more soulful there toward the end of the run as Garcia really started to fade.

Dont Go Back To Rockville - REM. Put this on at a party. Or after having a fight with someone you love. Trust me. It'll make you smile. Dont know why, but it does.
